Subaru wrx

This WRX came to us after the new owner had torn his front guard from the tyres catching on them under cornering. We therefore fitted the bigger sedan front guards and bumper, rolled and stretched the rear arches so that the tyres now fit under the car.

Looked a lot better but a bit mismatched.

Whilst we had it we did a service and check-over, among other questionable repairs we found the power steering line cable tied to the fuel rail which rubbed through and was leaking fuel onto the exhaust.

Then we had Luke from Wrapcha Vehicle Wraps wrap the new panels.

The customer got his car back and was super happy until he called me a few months later saying he blew the engine, I thought he was being a little dramatic until I drained the oil and removed the sump.

So I pulled the engine, ordered a new sti short motor from Subaru, some forged mahle pistons, arp head studs and cometic head gaskets.

We put it all back together and took it for a dyno tune check. The results were as I suspected, poor wiring and a bad tune had caused the engine to detonate, so we fixed the wiring for the flex fuel sensors and tuned it for both e85 and 98 octane.

The customer was very happy with the power the car was making but after a short period it was back for a clutch, gearbox and diff upgrade. It got a jim berry race clutch, a cusco rear diff and a race prepped six speed with adjustable centre diff.

Once again the customer left very happy, UNTIL he called me a few months later to tell me someone who he let drive the car had put it through a brick fence. The car was a wreck.

We got a donor car in the form of an unloved sedan from Perth, which had had a hard life and was filthy, but running and driving with a blown headgasket. We stripped this one as well and swapped interiors, driveline, suspension, stereo, dash, pretty much everything in the car.

Finally before he got it back, we fitted stainless steel brake lines, ebc pads and dba rotors.

And some new wheels with sticky rubber.

A quick trip to the petrol station and he was on his way.
